Health Care HeadlinesIASP Launches Year-Long Campaign Against Musculoskeletal PainThe International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) recently launched the 2009–2010 Global Year Against Musculoskeletal Pain to draw attention to the disabling pain experienced by people around the world with musculoskeletal disorders. Built around the theme of "When Moving Hurts: Assess, Understand, Take Action," this initiative calls upon the health care community to provide a voice for patients with musculoskeletal pain. Led by Global Year Co-Chair Kathleen Sluka, PT, the campaign aims to mobilize IASP members and chapters worldwide to sponsor symposia, pain camps, publications, interviews, and other efforts to raise the profile of musculoskeletal pain. IASP also is providing free fact sheets covering more than 20 topics related to musculoskeletal pain. |
