Nominations Currently Being Accepted for ABPTS and Specialty Council
Positions
The American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS), which is the
governing body for certification and recertification for clinical
specialists in physical therapy, is accepting nominations for three
board-certified physical therapist, one in Cardiovascular and
Pulmonary, Clinical Electrophysiologic and one in Women's
Health physical therapy (4 year term) on ABPTS. These appointments
begin July 1, 2010.
Members of ABPTS may not concurrently hold a primary APTA section
office that could present a conflict of interest between the two groups.
Also, although Specialty Council experience is preferred, it is not
required for appointment to ABPTS.
The ABPTS also appoints members of its Specialty Councils, which are
composed of three board-certified physical therapist members.
Nominations are being accepted for one position on each of the following
Specialty Councils: Cardiovascular and Pulmonary, Clinical
Electrophysiologic, Geriatric, Orthopaedics, Pediatrics, and Women's
Health physical therapy. Specialty Council appointments are for
4-year terms beginning January 1, 2011.
Individuals seeking appointment to ABPTS and the Specialty Councils
must have the following qualifications:
- Board-certified physical therapist in the specialty area.
- Effective group participation.
- Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- We encourage you to review the requirements and responsibilities required of
appointed members of ABPTS and Specialty Councils.
The deadline for submitting nominations is March 31, 2010. ABPTS will
make all appointments during its May 2010 meeting. Nominees are required
to submit a current curriculum vitae along with the nomination consent
form.
