Vision 2020
Education Strategic Plan 2006-2020 (Update 6/09)

Guidelines: Student/New Graduate Employment Agreements

The 2008 House of Delegates passed Guidelines: Student/New Graduate Employment Agreements (HOD G06-08-08-09) by amending the Guidelines: Student and Employer Contracts (HOD G06-92-14-28) to make these guidelines more contemporary and to include the student and new graduate in guidelines for contractual employment agreements.

These guidelines assist students/new graduates in negotiating appropriate agreements to provide financial assistance in exchange for a promise of future employment. They suggest that all students and new graduates obtain appropriate legal counsel prior to signing any agreement. In addition, the guidelines list provisions that employment agreements should include and "set forth in clear language" associated with repayment, termination of employment, and non-compete clauses.
