Expert Speakers
Robin Burroughs, RN, CPHRM, is a registered nurse and a
certified professional healthcare risk manager. Her clinical and
administrative nursing experience includes medical, oncology research,
geriatric and psychiatric specialties. She has also consulted to several
New York City law firms in the assessment and investigation of medical
malpractice and negligence case. Since 1995, Ms. Burroughs has been with
CNA HealthPro, and in her current role as a Risk Control Consulting
Director she is responsible for providing risk management consulting
services to the health care industry. Ms. Burroughs is one of the
primary authors of CNA's recently released Physical Therapy Claims
Study.
Michael Loughran has responsibility for Healthcare Providers
Service Organization's (HPSO) professional liability programs for
Physical Therapists and other allied healthcare professionals. He is a
professional insurance executive with an extensive background in all
aspects of the insurance field, including marketing, operations, product
design and systems. Mr. Loughran has spoken extensively on the topic of
malpractice as it relates to allied healthcare professionals.
Stuart Platt, PT, MSPT has been a licensed PT for 17 years and
has practiced in a variety of clinical settings. Prior to starting his
own consulting company, Mr. Platt directed the physical therapy review
division of a national physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R)
consulting firm and was the manager of a large outpatient physical
therapy clinic. He has served as an expert reviewer for the American
Physical Therapy Association's (APTA) Task Force on Practice Parameters
and has reviewed over 10,000 physical therapy/medicine cases for
national insurance companies, attorneys, provider practices, and
regulatory entities. Mr. Platt has also provided expert testimony on
physical therapy related issues in several states and lectured on
physical therapy utilization management (UM) to insurance adjusters,
case managers, and the physical therapy community. Mr. Platt has served
in many capacities at both the state and national levels of APTA, and he
is currently the Chair of the Association's Risk Management and Member
Benefits Committee.
