APTA Honors and Awards Program: Call for Nominations
APTA is now accepting nominations for 2010 Honors and Awards.
Nominations must be submitted no later than December 1, 2009.
Some awards nomination packets include downloadable forms (Mary McMillian Scholarship
Award, Dorothy Briggs Memorial Scientific Inquirty Award, Chattanooga
Research Award and Jack Walker Award), that should be completed and also

Process for Resubmission of Award Nominations
Nomination packages for honors and awards (except for the Mary McMillan
Scholarship Award, Dorothy Briggs Memorial Scientific Inquiry Award,
Chattanooga Research Award, and Jack Walker Award), reviewed by the
Awards Committee or Catherine Worthingham Fellows Review Committee and
not selected for an honor/award will be resubmitted for the next year's
Honors and Awards Program (ie, one year after the original nomination
submission), if the nominee continues to meet award eligibility and
criteria for selection requirements. Staff will review nominations for
continued eligibility and resubmit copies for consideration in the next
year's program. Resubmission of nominations for honors/awards in
subsequent years will require the consent of the nominator, and update
of the nomination package.
Notification and Presentation of Awards:
Nominators will receive an e-mail notification from APTA's Honors and
Awards Program confirming receipt of the nomination package. Honors and
awards recipients and nominators will be notified in writing following
the APTA Board of Directors meeting in March 2010. Recipients will be
recognized in June at the Honors and Awards Recognition Ceremony held
during Physical Therapy 2010: The Annual Conference and Exposition of
the APTA in Boston, Massachusetts.
General Guidelines for Submitting a Nomination
In addition to the specific nomination procedures found for each award
some general guidelines that may assist you in the preparation of a
nomination:
- Nominators are responsible for submitting award nomination
packages via APTA's Web site by the December 1, 2009, deadline.
Nomination packages received after 5:00 pm, ET on this date will not be
considered.
- Use only the forms found on APTA's Web site (www.apta.org) or
e-mailed to you by APTA staff as changes have been made to the forms
used in previous years.
- Letters of support should be original and based on the
writer's personal relationship to the nominee. They may cover the
nominee's professional, scholastic, community, or Association
contributions and achievements that relate to the award criteria.
Nominators may wish to ask colleagues to address specific aspects of
these contributions or achievements in their support letters to provide
a more broad and organized coverage of the nominee's career.
- Nomination packages should be complete.Please be
aware that an incomplete package or one that includes materials not
requested in the submission criteria may put a nominee at a disadvantage
when the package is reviewed.
