National Physical Therapy Month - Public Information
Dear Visitors:
October is National Physical Therapy Month and an opportunity for
physical therapists and physical therapist assistants nationwide to
educate their communities about who physical therapists are and what
they can do for you.
Physical therapists are experts in restoring and improving the motion
that is so crucial to your well-being. For instance, when you have pain,
daily activities can become a challenge — picking up a child,
grocery shopping, or enjoying an evening walk — just to name a
few. It is good to know that physical therapists are the experts on whom
you can depend to help you move forward.
Here are just a few things physical therapists can do for you:
- help you improve your mobility and quality of life, in many cases
without surgery or prescription drugs.
- apply their intensive education and clinical experience to bring
motion back to your life.
- teach you how to prevent or manage your health condition so that you
will achieve an improved quality of life.
Most physical therapy education programs are graduating doctors of
physical therapy. And, in nearly every state you can make an appointment
with a physical therapist directly, without a physician's referral. To
learn more about how a physical therapist can help you or to find a one
in your area please visit www.moveforwardpt.com.
It is our hope that by visiting this site you will gain a greater
understanding of the physical therapist's role in helping you restore
and improve your motion — something that is so important in
everyday life.
During the month of October, there is a good chance physical
therapists in your area will be conducting open houses, fitness walks,
seminars, and other special events. I encourage you to attend an event
and learn more about how physical therapists can help you move
forward.
Sincerely,

R. Scott Ward, PT, PhD
