Application for Recognition of Advanced Proficiency for the Physical Therapist Assistant

In June 2003, the APTA House of Delegates adopted RC 27-03, Post Entry-Level Education and Recognition of Advanced Proficiency for the Physical Therapist Assistant, a motion presented by the Board of Directors. The Recognition of Advanced Proficiency for the Physical Therapist Assistant program was developed as a result of this RC and approved by the Board of Directors in July 2004.

The goal of the Recognition Program is to recognize physical therapist assistants (PTAs) who have achieved advanced proficiency through education, experience, leadership, and as part of the PT/PTA team in a specified area of work — Musculoskeletal, Neuromuscular, Geriatric, Pediatric, Integumentary, and/or Cardiopulmonary.

The complete application packet is downloadable in Microsoft Word by clicking below. Please note that the application fee can be paid online via credit card by clicking "Upload PTA Recognition Application."
