20th Marquette Challenge Winners Announced
Winners of the 20th Marquette Challenge, co-sponsored by the
University of Pittsburgh were recognized at the Foundation's annual
Dinner Dance during Annual Conference in San Antonio. The Marquette Challenge
is a grassroots fundraising effort coordinated and carried out
exclusively by physical therapist and physical therapist assistant
students. Marquette University students founded the Marquette Challenge
in 1988 and serve as the permanent sponsor. The 20th Marquette Challenge
raised $171,124. Since the inception of the Challenge,
students have raised over $1.3 million dollars for the Foundation for
Physical Therapy.
Winners of this year's Marquette Challenge, co-sponsored by
the University of Pittsburgh are:
First Place - Georgia State University - $23,242
Second Place - University of Miami - $12,738
Third Place - University of Colorado Denver - $11,290
Special Awards
The Most Successful Newcomer - Georgia State University
The Biggest Stretch School - Emory University
The Most Successful PTA School - Somerset Community College
Georgia State University became the first public school to win the
Challenge, which will be renamed the Georgia State - Marquette
Challenge for 2008-2009.
Special thanks to this year's student coordinators who led the
Challenge: Kristine Schlachter, SPT, Tim Petrie, SPT - Marquette
University; and Joanna Allen, SPT, Darren Bradley, SPT, Jena Grote, SPT,
and Garrett McCandless, SPT - University of Pittsburgh.
The Foundation also wished to recognize faculty advisors Lawrence G
Pan, PT, PhD and Sheila Schindler-Ivens, PT, PhD - Marquette University;
and Anthony Delitto, PT, PhD, FAPTA - University of Pittsburgh.
