Title: Communications Associate

FLSA Status: Exempt
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS
This position:
- Works with communications and marketing staff to develop and execute marketing campaigns
- Works with public relations and media relations initiatives of the association
- Writes copy, formats e-blasts, segments audiences, and reports on results
- Serves as gatekeeper for e-communications functions
- Manages the e-blast calendar to ensure appropriate timing and mix of e-communications
- Writes for daily electronic news feed and weekly electronic newsletter, and solicits, collects, and edits copy from staff and external sources
- Writes and coordinates distribution of news releases and statements to the media
- Monitors hits in various media outlets and compiles progress reports
- Writes and edits marketing and advertising copy
- Manages deliverables and promotional efforts for APTA's products, services, educational offerings, and annual conferences
- Assists with developing annual media initiative calendar, devising strategies that will pique media interest
- Organizes exhibits at various events to promote brand
- Coordinates photography at two national meetings
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-3 years of experience in an association environment
- Undergraduate degree in marketing or communications or equivalent related experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent news writing and copywriting skills
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Strong computer/database experience required
- Experience with HTML preferred
