APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor Program is intended for health care providers who work primarily in a clinical setting and are interested in developing their teaching abilities.
By participating in the Level 1 course, participants explore different aspects of the clinical learning environment and acquire skills and techniques necessary to provide a structured and effective learning environment for students. Additional methods and practices, including the construction of a clinical curriculum, can be learned by attending the Level 2 course.
Learn About the Level 1 Course
APTA CCIP courses are taught throughout the year in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Enrollment is open to physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and clinicians from other health care professions. In addition to PTs and PTAs, courses often include speech therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and more.
Successful completion of the Level 1 course provides PTs and PTAs with 1.6 CEUs* and the Clinical Instructor Credential. Health care providers from other professions are eligible to receive 1.2 CEUs,* but are not awarded the Clinical Instructor Credential.
Successful completion of the Level 2 course provides PTs and PTAs with 1.7 CEUs* and the Level 2 Clinical Instructor Credential. Health care providers from other professions are eligible to receive 1.3 CEUs,* but are not awarded the Level 2 Clinical Instructor Credential.
*Note: Licensees should verify with their state licensing board for acceptance of CEUs by reviewing the relevant state practice act and/or administrative code.
CCIP Booster Modules

APTA's Credentialed Clinical Instructor Program offers a series of online booster modules intended for CIs who have already completed the Level 1 course. The modules do not replace Level 1 training, but rather address many areas in the Level 1 course and help boost an individual's knowledge and skills.
