The Minority Scholarship Fund was created in 1988 to assist minority students in completing their physical therapy education. There is currently more than $400,000 in the Fund. Since 1988, $710,000 has been awarded to 171 professional physical therapist and physical therapist assistant students in their final year of physical therapy education and eleven faculty members pursuing their post-professional doctoral degree.
The goal of the annual Celebration of Diversity is to significantly increase the Minority Scholarship Fund so that more scholarships in more significant amounts may be awarded. Contributions to the Minority Scholarship Fund are tax deductible as the Fund is contained within the 501(c)(3) Physical Therapy Fund, which is supported by APTA.
