Description: The Safe Patient Handling and Movement course aims to raise awareness of the safety concerns during patient handling and movement, to provide guidance on how we can counter the risk factors associated with patient handling and movement especially in relation to rehabilitation, and provide implementation strategies to empower providers to improve the safety within their environments.

This course was developed by the American Physical Therapy Association in conjunction with Region 5 of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Additionally, this course is a component of the OSHA Alliance Program between APTA and OSHA. The Alliance program brings OSHA together with groups committed to safety and health to help prevent injuries, illnesses, and fatalities in the workplace.
