Description: The first in a series on falls in older adults, this course describes how falls and their impact are being recognized by community advocacy groups, political organizations, and physical therapists across the health care spectrum. From this course, you will discover the problem of falls in community dwelling older adults and identify the prevalence of falls among the various groups of older persons. You will be able to discuss risk factors, identify the consequences and costs – social, psychological, physical, and medical – resulting from falls, and recognize the process and procedure for fall screening.
