Description: Despite numerous prevention efforts, inpatient falls remain a leading adverse event in hospitals and other inpatient settings, resulting in a loss of function, higher health-care costs, and even death. Physical therapists and PTAs play an important role in identifying those at risk for falls and preventing falls in all settings. In this course, discover the issues unique to the inpatient setting. You will identify some of the injuries and costs associated with falls, the common risk factors, and the Joint Commission strategy for addressing patient harm resulting from falls.
