Communication Plan for the Revised Code and Standards

APTA's Code of Ethics for the Physical Therapist and Standards of Ethical Conduct for the Physical Therapist Assistant (Code and Standards) have been expanded to better delineate the ethical obligations of all physical therapists (PTs) and physical therapist assistants (PTAs). The 2009 House of Delegates adopted revisions of these two core documents of the profession. The revised Code and Standards went into effect July 1, 2010.

APTA's Guide for Professional Conduct and Guide for Conduct of the Physical Therapist Assistant have been revised and provide interpretations of the revised Code and Standards. These documents went into effect in November, 2010.

Ongoing Communication Plan

To facilitate dissemination of and provide education on the revised Code and Standards, the Ethics and Judicial Committee created a multi-step Communication Plan. The following sets forth details of the education that continues to be provided under this Plan:
