Federal Advocacy Forum: Legislative Meetings

Please review the below information before the Federal Advocacy Forum. These meetings are formal, be prepared to wear business attire on the day you visit with your senator or representative. Additional information will be shared during the Forum to help you prepare for your visits.

Scheduling Hill Visits

House of Representatives Meetings

You are responsible for scheduling your appointment to visit your House Representative in Congress. APTA has provided a sample meeting request. If you need contact information for your Congressman or Congresswoman's scheduler, please e-mail lindsaystill@apta.org.

When you contact your Representative's office, let him or her know you will talk to them about health care issues that impact physical therapists and their patients. We have set aside Tuesday, April 8, from noon to 4:00 pm for your House visits. Please do not make congressional appointments during scheduled programming on Monday, April 7.

After receiving the request, the representative's office will contact you directly to schedule the meeting. Legislative offices can take several weeks to schedule meeting requests, so participants may not receive a meeting confirmation until 1-2 weeks before the Forum.

If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Lindsay Still at lindsaystill@apta.org.

Obtain your representative and his or her contact information.

Send request between February 24, 2014 and March 10, 2014

Senate Appointments

Before you contact your Senators e-mail or call Lindsay Still at lindsaystill@apta.org or 800/999-2782, ext. 3170. If more than one person from your state is attending the Forum, Lindsay will help coordinate the Senate meeting requests.
