• The Specialization Academy of Content Experts (SACE) was established to create a pool of certified specialists to write items for the specialist certification examinations. In addition to completing an online application, SACE applicants will be required to complete an online "Introduction to Item Writing Course," then submit one sample item that will be considered during appointment decisions, and commit to attending the annual item writing workshop that takes place at APTA's Combined Sections Meeting (CSM).  At this workshop newly appointed SACE members will have the opportunity to work with an item writing mentor on 5 items you will be asked to develop.

SACE appointments are for 2-year terms.

Board-certified specialists in one of the following practice areas are eligible for appointment: Cardiovascular and Pulmonary, Clinical Electrophysiologic, Geriatric, Neurologic, Orthopaedic, Pediatric, Sports, and Women's Health Physical Therapy.

The SACE application process is now closed and will reopen in February 2017.
