The Public Service Award, established in 1991 by APTA's Board of Directors, annually recognizes individuals who have demonstrated distinctive support for the physical therapy profession at a national level.
Eligibility Requirements
Individuals from the following categories are eligible for nomination:
- members of Congress and congressional staff,
- members of a state legislature,
- federal agency officials,
- health and legislative association staff, and
- celebrities and public figures.
APTA component presidents and executives, Board of Directors, and Public Policy and Advocacy Committee members are encouraged to submit nominees for the 2013 APTA Federal Government Leadership Award.

The nomination process for this award is currently closed. Please check back in December 2013 for information on the 2013 award.
What Recipients Receive
The selected recipient will be invited to attend the 2013 APTA Federal Advocacy Forum in Washington, DC, April 14-16, 2013. The award will be presented at the forum. The recipient also will receive recognition on APTA's website, as well as in PT in Motion and PT in Motion: News Now.
