As a payer or case manager, it is very important that you have a copy of each of the physical therapist state practice acts for the states in which you do business. Why is it important?
Physical therapists are licensed by the states. Each state practice act may have language that differs from other states in regard to:
- Evaluations and Reevaluations (including content and frequency)
- Delegation to and Supervision of Physical Therapist Assistants and Aides
- Restrictions on specific areas of practice
- Direct Access
