The CARF Board of Directors recently re-elected Cathy Ellis, PT, to serve a third consecutive 1-year term as board chair of beginning January 1. The board provides governance of CARF International, a nonprofit accreditor of health and human services.
Ellis, who was seated on the CARF Board of Directors in 2006 and elected chair for 2009, previously served on the CARF Board of Trustees, a forerunner of the CARF Board of Directors, from 2000 through 2005. She is the assistant vice president of clinical services and the clinical director of the spinal cord program at the National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH) in Washington, DC. She has represented APTA on many committees working with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Ellis currently serves on the advisory board of the physical therapy program at Marymount University and on the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association CMS quality measures committee.
