Consistent messaging is at the core of every brand. So far in 2011, APTA has worked with more than 60 national and regional media outlets, providing experts from our Media Corps and educating reporters about how physical therapists are mobility experts who can help patients reduce pain and restore and improve motion, often without the need for surgery and/or long-term use of prescription pain medications and their side effects. Thanks to the efforts of our dedicated Media Corps, this key messaging continues to be featured and has most recently appeared in several prominent online and print publications. APTA Media Corps member Mary Ann Wilmarth, PT, DPT, OCS, MTC, Certified MDT, was interviewed for 2 WebMD stories, "12 Ways to Improve Back Pain" and "Is it Time for Physical Therapy," and a Lifescript.com story "The Best Chairs for Lumbar Back Support." USA TODAY interviewed APTA Media Corps member Patrice Winter, PT, MPT, MS, FAAOMPT, for a story about the importance of physical activity across the life span, "Boomers, You Gotta Make that Body Last," and highlighted our May LiveStream event. APTA Media Corps member Jill Boissonnault, PT, PhD, was interviewed by American Baby magazine for a story about common injuries experienced by new moms and how to prevent them.
