PTJ's Impact Factor Rises
According to the just-released Journal Citation Reports (JCR), Physical Therapy (PTJ) ranks #1 among all physical therapy journals and #3 among all 43 rehabilitation journals listed by JCR. PTJ’s impact factor is 2.645 (the highest impact factor for rehabilitation journals is 3.77), with a 5-year impact factor score of 3.158. Citations to PTJ totaled 6,250 in 2010. PTJ ranks 7th among 61 journals listed in the orthopedics category. Among rehabilitation journals, PTJ also is ranked third in both the Eigenfactor score and the Article Influence score.
Says PTJ's Editor in Chief Rebecca Craik, PT, PhD, FAPTA, "I like to think these healthy scores reflect our content. I'm delighted that so many authors are submitting manuscripts that are relevant to clinical practice. The quality of clinical research studies has improved exponentially. We also continue to call for basic research that has relevance to clinicians. Our case reports provide examples in clinical diagnosis, prognosis, and care; models of new clinical management; and classroom teaching. And the Linking Evidence to Practice (LEAP) series helps readers apply results of Cochrane and other systematic reviews to individual patients." Craik adds that PTJ's old reputation for protracted review times has been overturned. "If you are an author, please consider PTJ; if you are a reader, please visit our Web site and enjoy learning what's new."
JCR is published by Thomson Reuters / ISI Web of Knowledge. The 2010 impact factor is calculated based on the number of articles published in 2008 and 2009 and the number of citations to those articles in 2010.
