As part of the federal government's overall effort to improve the quality of health care delivery, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) launched a new Web site, Quality Care Finder, at www.Medicare.gov/QualityCareFinder, as a single location from which patients and their families can link to resources that can inform their decisions about health care. A variety of quality measures also is available for facilities, including patient experience data, outcomes data for specific conditions and readmissions, patient safety measures, and process-of-care measures that help ensure patients are getting all recommended treatments for specific conditions such as asthma.
Additional features of this new Web site include:
- 1-stop shopping for information on hospitals, nursing homes, home health care, and more
- Updated Hospital Compare data for the time period July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2010
- New volume and cost data for hospitals for selected conditions
