Friday, August 05, 2011 August Recess is Under Way The August congressional recess officially started this week. Members of Congress will be in their districts until September 6. APTA strongly encourages you to take advantage of opportunities during this time when members of Congress are holding town hall meetings, conducting business out of their district offices, and visiting areas of their district. This month-long recess is a great time to schedule a practice visit for legislators at your workplace, visit them at their district office, or participate in their town hall meetings. Click on the following links to find out if your legislator is a cosponsor of APTA's priority legislation: HR 1426 Physical Therapist Student Loan Repayment Eligibility Act of 2011 S 975 Physical Therapist Student Loan Repayment Eligibility Act of 2011 HR 1546 Medicare Access to Rehabilitation Services Act of 2011 S 829 Medicare Access to Rehabilitation Services Act of 2011 If you are able to participate in practice visits, district meetings, town hall meetings, or fundraisers, APTA can provide you with information and position papers to help in your advocacy efforts.
