APTA Summary on Exchange Rules Now Available

APTA's summary on the rules governing the establishment of health insurance exchanges and qualified health plans (QHP) highlights provisions pertinent to physical therapists, such as the QHP network adequacy standards that require issuers to maintain sufficient amounts and types of providers to ensure that all services will be accessible without unreasonable delay. The summary covers provisions related to initial and annual open enrollment periods, the eligibility determination process for the Small Business Health Options Program, consumer assistance tools and programs, privacy and security of information, and more.

Several provisions in this final rule were published as interim final and are open for public comment until May 11.

Association members can access the summary on APTA's Summaries of Health Care Reform Rules & Regulations Web page under the heading "Additional Summaries."

just one more example of the sickening way the APTA is falling over themselves to be a good little organization and line up in a neat line for Obamacare. Seriously, we all know that Medicaid is NOT good insurance and that's half the plan right there. Why don't we wait and see if it's even constitutional?? Or how about putting our money into helping people make smart decisions about their health in the first place? This may be the last year you get my membership dollars!

I agree with Melanie! what happened to good competitive services getting the work and the terrible ones starve because they are not competitive. good competition sharpens skills. if we go to socialist medicine, the quality decreases because we will be mandated to see way too many pt to make our goverment regulated stipulations.

I no longer give to the APTA PAC. Support of this bill by the APTA was and still is absurd. It was outlined right from the beginning....Health care providers in small businesses are doomed, and Private Practice PT's will be the first to go down and soon. Even if the supreme court decides the one detail of Obamacare is unconstitutional, they have implimented so much of it at record speed that it will be impossible to take away.
