Areas of interest to physical therapists could include ergonomics, patient handling, workplace violence, falls, trenching and excavation, and communicable diseases such as bloodborne pathogens and tuberculosis. DOL Employment and Training Administration lists grant programs that may be of interest to physical therapists.
On-Site Consultation Program
offers no-cost and confidential occupational safety and health services to small- and medium-sized businesses in all 50 states, DC, and several territories, with priority given to high-hazard workplaces. Although largely funded by OSHA, programs are administered by local agencies or universities. Page includes a link to a directory of programs by location.
Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program
recognizes small business employers who have used OSHA's On-Site Consultation Program services and operate exemplary safety and health programs.
