Exploring the Patient Experience on #XchangeSA
What's the most important question that a physical therapist needs to ask a patient to convince them "you're the best person on the face of the earth to treat them"?
That's just one of the topics that Jerry Durham, PT, takes on in the April edition of the #XchangeSA chat, which explores the patient experience.
Insights from the chat include the following:
- "The better a (clinical) culture, the better you hire, then I guarantee you the better the patient experience." (7:56)
- If a patient with low back pain says his goals are "to play 9 holes of golf and to pick up his grandkid," his goals have "nothing to do with low back pain."
- "If a day ends and you don't feel like there was something that challenged you that day that you would've prepared for more, you're probably not working hard enough." (26:44)
- "People don't want research. They want health. They want to get back to picking up their grandkid and playing 9 holes of golf." (37:54)
You can see the entire exchange above, or listen to it as a podcast.
Be sure to mark your calendar for the next #XchangeSA, May 12, talking about the APTA House of Delegates with #FreshPT Keaton Ray, PT, DPT, ATC, CSCS.
