There are currently no vacancies for this group. Check back for future opportunities.

Appointees will include 3 physical therapist assistants and 3 physical therapists that have experience working as part of the PT/PTA team in a clinical environment.

The Educational Pathways of the PTA Task Force will develop and present to the Board of Directors appropriate post entry-level educational pathways for the PTA in light of APTA positions, standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures, and other appropriate APTA documents.

For the period of January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015, the Board of Directors' determined charge for the Educational Pathways of the PTA Task Force is:

  • Coordinate the development of readily adaptable, accessible, and affordable post entry-level content and educational pathways for acquisition of additional knowledge and skills relative to physical therapy interventions and to areas related to physical therapy (eg, administration, education, leadership)
  • Identify and coordinate the development of common courses that will be included in all of the Advanced Proficiency Pathways (eg, Values-based Behaviors)
  • Develop and implement a process for identifying content for each of the topic areas for the Advanced Proficiency Pathways
  • Develop and implement the required infrastructure for marketing of the program; managing the program, including admitting, mentoring, evaluating, and recognizing participants; and assessing program outcomes.

All APTA appointed groups will conduct their work with the Association Organizational Values in mind and in the context of 1) APTA's mission, vision, and strategic plan, and 2) the potential for their work to have implications related to physical therapist assistants, women, diversity, and risk management.
