TRICARE is a civilian network administered by the U.S. Department of Defense that provides health care benefits to active-duty service members, National Guard and Reserve members, and their families when services cannot be provided at a military treatment facility. It covers physical therapy when furnished by a physical therapist, or by a physical therapist assistant under the supervision of a TRICARE-authorized PT. TRICARE is administered by HealthNet Federal Services (West Region) and Humana Military (East Region).

When service members leave active duty, they're eligible for coverage either through TRICARE or through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' Community Care Program (discussed in this space in November 2019), depending on how they separated from military duty.
