Change is difficult.

I don’t know many people who enjoy it or are good at it. Professionally, change likely occurs either due to administrative demand or, hopefully, out of evolution of evidence-based practice and best patient care.

The latter is where I found myself a few years ago. I was a newly minted board-certified cardiovascular and pulmonary clinical specialist and had just switched jobs after seven years in the same hospital system. Only a few weeks into my new role at my new hospital I was tasked with participating in a work group designed to implement best practice in the intensive care unit.
