Institution is private; therefore, state residency is not a factor in admission. Program gives preference for an interview invitation to applicants who completed all prerequisites at Creighton. However, only 20-30% of students come from Creighton. |
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
In 1993, Creighton established the nation's first Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (DPT), leading the entire profession. U.S. News & World Report ranks Creighton's PT doctorate program 19th in the nation.
Creighton is a Jesuit, Catholic institution with 7,000 students. Nearly 35% are pursuit health science professional degrees. Creighton is one of only four Jesuit institutions with an academic medical center. The Creighton University Medical Center is home to Nebraska's busiest trauma center, a nationally renowned cardiac teaching center, and hundreds of the region's most accomplished health care professionals.
Creighton has 16 full-time faculty members. Eleven faculty members have doctoral degrees and Four faculty members are APTA recognized advanced clinical specialists. The Creighton PT faculty average 15 years of clinical experience and 8 years of teaching experience.
A total of 46 weeks of supervised clinical practice is provided in the curriculum - up to 11 weeks more training than the national average. PT students choose from more than 350 clinical training sites in the U.S. and foreign countries - including a third world opportunity in the Dominican Republic.
