Applicants seeking admission to a graduate program must possess a bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent in US terms) with adequate preparation from a recognized institute of higher education. Applicants from foreign educational institutions are required to send official copies of transcripts with certified English translation to the World Education Services for evaluation. To contact WES call 1(800) 977-8263 or (212) 966-6377 between 9am and 5pm Eastern Standard Time.   

English Language Proficiency: Applicants applying from a foreign educational institution, whose native language is not English, are required to prove English proficiency by one of the following methods:   

  • 550 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or 
  • 85 on the Internet-based test TOEFL (a minimum of 25 on the speaking portion is required), or 
  • 6.5 on the English Language Testing System (IELTS)   

Please note that minimum score may vary by program. Results of the test must be forwarded directly to Nazareth College. NOTE:

  1. Applicants with lower English proficiency may be admitted on a provisional basis by enrolling in Nazareth's American Language Institute for an intensive English program.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Mission Statement:

The Nazareth College Physical Therapy Program prepares physical therapists dedicated to lifelong learning, reflection, and accountability, who are grounded in intellectual, ethical, and aesthetic values. The program will prepare professionals who are committed to meeting community health needs through engagement and service. The program graduate will possess the adaptive competence necessary to provide sound patient care, as well as preventive, educational, administrative, and consultative services that respect individuality.

Philosophy:

The faculty of the Nazareth College Physical Therapy Program believe that a pre-professional foundation in the liberal arts and sciences promotes strong interpersonal and communication skills, innovation and creativity, problem solving, and critical thinking. The professional curriculum is designed to reflect current trends in autonomous, evidence-based practice, stimulating critical inquiry. The faculty create an educational environment in which students are responsible for learning.
