Project Committees (PC)
Student Assembly Project Committees (PC) are established by the Student Assembly Board of Directors (SABoD) for the purpose of supporting the SABoD annual goals. Each PC is comprised of 1 or 2 chairs and 5 to 7 members who are appointed through an annual application process.
Each PC regularly collaborates with an assigned member of the SABoD and APTA staff. The assigned SABoD member will assist the PC Chair(s) and Members in establishing and accomplishing their goals for the year. While the weekly commitments differ for each PC according to tasks and time of year, Chairs can expect to devote between 3-7 hours/week and members between 1-5 hours/week performing committee-related activities. Each PC should present their achievements to the Student Assembly prior to the National Student Conclave (NSC). It is the responsibility of all Project Committees to collaborate with the Director of Communications to create and coordinate social media posts for Student Assembly social media pages.
Student Assembly Liaisons
Student Assembly Liaisons are also appointed by the SABoD through an annual application process and serve as a direct link between the Student Assembly and a specific component of APTA. Liaisons can expect to devote between 2-6 hours/week performing position-related activities.

2018-2019 Project Committees
Advocacy Project Committee
Mission: The work of this committee should align with the Student Assembly's goal to promote advancement of the physical therapy profession to better serve the needs of society by facilitating student involvement with advocacy efforts. This committee should work with APTA staff to promote advocacy efforts from APTA, particularly National Advocacy Dinners and the Flash Action Strategy. This should include educating students on current public policy issues and the importance of advocacy for our patients and our profession; serving as a National Advocacy Dinner coordinator to an assigned region; and advancing advocacy and policy initiatives in other ways as tasked by the Student Assembly Board of Directors.
Time Commitment: Up to 5 hours per week to prepare for and during peak APTA advocacy season (February, March, and April 2019); 1-2 hours per week for the rest of the term (December 2018 - December 2019). The responsibilities of these positions may exceed these estimates.

Mission: The work of this committee should align with the Student Assembly's goal to promote the advancement of the physical therapy profession to better serve the needs of society by promoting APTA's consumer-centricity and developing cultural competency within the Student Assembly. This committee should foster student opportunities in community service, public health awareness, and engagement with minority and underserved populations by working with APTA staff to further the profession's commitment to improving health and wellness within the community.
Mission: The work of this committee should align with the Student Assembly's goal to promote the advancement of the physical therapy profession to better serve the needs of society through promotion of APTA's consumer-centricity and development of cultural competency within the Student Assembly. This committee should promote awareness of global affairs concerning physical therapy and various opportunities available for students abroad. The committee should establish connections with the World Confederation of Physical Therapy and the Global Health Special Interest Group under the APTA Health Policy and Administration Section. This committee should promote international service learning opportunities for students and connect with international physical therapy programs and associations to increase global networking.
Mission: The work of this committee should align with the Student Assembly's goal to improve communication across the spectrum of all students and professionals. This committee should promote collaboration, education, and networking between students and professionals across various healthcare disciplines and specialties. While anticipating health care transformations, this committee could advance PT and PTA student understanding of and experience with providing patient-centered care as part of an interprofessional team.
National Student Conclave (NSC)
Mission: The work of this committee should align with the Student Assembly's goal to increase student involvement within APTA through increased involvement at National Student Conclave. This committee will collaborate with APTA staff to develop a student-centered conference that enables attendees to experience the opportunities, support, and community that exists within the physical therapy profession. Partner with other Project Committees to compile the ultimate student experience. PC members are also asked to review and score content submissions, and be available to assist with developing and implementing various events and opportunities for students to participate in at National Student Conclave.
2017-2018 Student Assembly Liaisons
Mission: This liaison should represent the Student Assembly in collaboration with the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT), which promotes excellence in education, scholarship, research, practice, and service to improve the health and wellness of society. The ACAPT liaison should collaborate with ACAPT to address student issues while also promoting awareness of and involvement with ACAPT’s role in student education.
Foundation for Physical Therapy Liaison:
Mission: This liaison should represent the Student Assembly in collaboration with the Foundation for Physical Therapy, which funds and publicizes physical therapy research, determines the scientific basis and value of services intended to optimize physical functioning, and develops the next generation of researchers. The Foundation for PT Liaison should assist the Foundation in promoting and organizing the Marquette Challenge as well as overall Foundation fundraising while promoting awareness of the Foundation’s vital role in the physical therapy profession.
Mission: This liaison should represent the Student Assembly in collaboration with APTA staff on PTNow, APTA's evidence-based practice website, which translates physical therapy knowledge into action, and helps clinicians and students improve their clinical decision making. The student PTNow Liaison should represent the Student Assembly’s needs to PTNow as well as support PTNow initiatives that involve student input and assistance. In addition to one PTNow enhancement project performed throughout the term, the student liaison may receive funding to attend National Student Conclave to assist with demonstrating PTNow to other students in the exhibit hall or during educational programming.
Mission: This liaison should represent the Student Assembly to raise awareness about the PT-PAC through education and engagement. The PT-PAC is APTA's political grassroots funding network that provides members access to legislators to champion physical therapy legislative interests at the federal level. The PT-PAC liaison should assist the APTA PT-PAC staff in educating students about the purpose of the PT-PAC and promoting student engagement with the PT-PAC. The PT-PAC liaison should set the example in PT advocacy and giving to the PT-PAC.
Mission: This liaison will serve as a contact for Student Special Interest Groups (SSIGs) across the country. The SSIG liaison will help guide existing and potential SSIG members to appropriate resources and will help maintain websites and social media groups aimed at providing information and communication forums. The SSIG liaison should have prior experience in establishing and/or participating in a component SSIG.

All PC Committee and Liaison positions and descriptions are approved by each Student Assembly Board of Directors (SABoD). The 2017-2018 SABoD has the right to change, add or remove any and all of the positions and descriptions noted above. You will be notified of any changes prior to being placed in position.
