Participation as a member of the APTA Frontiers in Research and Technology Network is open year-round. The next call for leadership positions in this network will open in July 2024 for terms beginning Jan. 1, 2025.
Description
The chair and co-chair of the the APTA Frontiers in Rehabilitation Science and Research and Technology, or FiRST, network are appointed by the APTA president. Together, the chair and co-chair lead a community for stakeholders who have a special interest in promoting scientific and technological innovation in rehabilitation and movement sciences and in leveraging scientific and technological discoveries to advance physical therapist practice, education, and research.
Official FiRST Mission Statement: Identify and implement high-priority areas in emerging science and technology via networking, collaboration, and research within physical therapy.
Participation as a Network member is open year-round. Only chair and Co-chair positions are subject to application and selection deadlines.
Responsibilities of the Chair and Co-Chair
- Facilitate network meetings (1 in-person meeting per year)
- Lead efforts to foster network member driven communication and networking
- Partner with the Board liaison and the APTA staff liaison to the network to provide regular updates to the APTA Board
