The new APTA Learning Center course offers a comprehensive breakdown of how payment works and how to avoid common compliance pitfalls.

Medicare documentation and billing don't have to feel overwhelming, especially when you have the right foundation. "The PT Guide to Success in Medicare Part B" is a new course designed for both early-career physical therapists and experienced providers who want a practical refresher on Medicare rules, documentation, and payment. It's now available free for APTA members.

This three-part course walks participants through the full life cycle of Medicare Part B participation, starting with what to know before you enroll and ending with a clear understanding of how payment is calculated. Whether you're looking to enroll in Medicare for the first time, transitioning into seeing more Medicare patients, or simply want to sharpen your skills, this course has the guidance you need.

Part 1 focuses on Medicare Part B enrollment. It breaks down the enrollment systems and the critical considerations providers should understand before enrolling. Participants are guided step by step through the three-stage enrollment process, so there are no surprises.

Part 2 dives into the rules that govern Medicare Part B services, including supervision requirements, coverage criteria, and best practice standards. This section emphasizes accurate documentation and billing to help providers submit clean claims and avoid common compliance pitfalls.

Part 3 explains how Medicare Part B payment actually works. Participants learn the basics of billing, what factors influence payment rates, and how broader policy changes have shaped Medicare reimbursement over time.

Offered in an asynchronous format, the course provides 0.3 CEUs (3 contact hours) and is available free for members and $49 for non-members. It's a practical, accessible resource for PTs who want to get Medicare right — without the confusion.
