Elizabeth Pimentel, PT, MA, teaches neuroanatomy at CUNY School of Medicine. Her writing has appeared in “The Washington Post,” “New York Daily News,” and “Pulse,” among others. She is currently working on a memoir about driving a cab in Denver in the 1970s. A version of this piece was originally published in “Pulse — Voices from the Heart of Medicine” (pulsevoices.org).
