Physical therapists providing care to veterans through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Community Care Network are seeing long-awaited relief from administrative hurdles in coordinated care. Originally launched in 2020 and expanded in 2026, the VA's External Provider Scheduling, or EPS, system is streamlining care coordination, reducing unnecessary back-and-forth, and helping PTs spend more time delivering timely, patient-centered care to veterans.
This is welcome news for PTs already serving veterans through community care and for those exploring opportunities to work with veterans. Providers in the Community Care Network can deliver care to Veterans when the VA itself cannot.
