The Carolina Hurricanes captured the Stanley Cup last season, and among those celebrating was APTA member Nicholas Mahaffey, PT, DPT, SCS, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, the team's rehab and sports science coordinator and physical therapist. Following the NHL’s team championship win, APTA President Kyle Covington, PT, DPT, PhD, spoke with Mahaffey about his role with the Hurricanes, working in a collaborative sports medicine environment, and what people might be surprised to learn about being a physical therapist in professional hockey.
