The gender wage gap in health care is a persistent issue with women earning less than men across various health care professions, even after accounting for factors like education and experience. While the gap has narrowed in some areas, it remains significant and contributes to lower lifetime earnings for women in health care.

The American Physical Therapy Association supports pay equity (on the basis of sex assigned at birth/gender/gender identity) within the physical therapy profession and society and the provision of resources and tools that effectively promote psychological safety within the workplace and learning environments across the physical therapy profession.
