Tom is a physical therapist assistant at Holly Hills, a large subacute facility with head trauma, memory care, and respirator-dependent units, in addition to standard services. Providers of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology work very closely together.

As part of a facility expansion, the common rehabilitation treatment area is much smaller, so most treatment is occurring in patients' rooms, with occasional treatment occurring in "the commons," as the rehab staff calls the joint treatment area.
