APTA is recognizing National Physical Therapy Month in October by spotlighting the vital role physical therapy plays in improving movement for people of all ages and abilities. This year’s theme will highlight physical therapy’s valuable role in prevention, wellness, and promoting resilience across the health span.

It will emphasize that physical therapy isn’t only about recovering from injury or surgery – it’s also a personalized, proactive approach to improving movement, building strength, and supporting long-term well-being. We are educating patients and other health care providers that physical therapy can promote quality of life at any age, whether someone is managing pain or mobility challenges, living with a chronic condition, or simply aiming to move more efficiently.

This theme is designed to resonate across the profession, reinforcing the impact of physical therapy in every specialty and practice setting. Resources will be available later this month — including a ready-to-use member toolkit, patient toolkit, animated video, infographic, new social media graphics, and more.

Now is an ideal time for member PTs to update or activate their Find a PT profiles. National Physical Therapy Month not only educates the public about the benefits of physical therapy, it also directs them to APTA's Find a PT Directory — a trusted resource to find physical therapists by location, practice focus, or specialization. A Find a PT profile is a valuable and free benefit, exclusive to APTA members; it’s free advertising that helps connect potential patients, clients, and referring providers with you and your practice.

Follow the association's social media channels for the latest information on how to get involved in celebrating. ChoosePT is on Facebook and X; APTA is on FacebookXInstagram, and LinkedIn.

Please contact the APTA Public Relations team with questions.

National Physical Therapy Month is supported by APTA insurance partner HPSO.
