APTA Builds Congressional Support for Medicare Payment Reform and Patient Access

In a Sept. 14 Capitol Hill briefing held in the Rayburn House Office Building for congressional staff, APTA members and staff experts detailed how the failure to properly pay for physical therapist services not only harms patient access to care but also increases healthcare costs.

During "An Ounce of Prevention: The Role of Physical Therapy in Reducing Healthcare Costs," attendees were educated about the urgent need for Medicare Physician Fee Schedule reform and several key pieces of legislation introduced in the 119th Congress that are critical to supporting therapy providers, including the APTA-endorsed Provider Reimbursement Stability Act (H.R. 8163/S. 5180). This bipartisan legislation is key to reforming Medicare payment and preventing future cuts under the fee schedule.
