Patients, Providers, and Patient-Generated Health Data

Patients increasingly are providing data about themselves to their health care providers when asked. Providers, meanwhile, find this patient-generated health data (PGHD) useful but too often fail to ask for it.

Those were a few of the conclusions in the session "Uncover Beliefs About Patient-Generated Health Data," presented recently at the annual conference of the Healthcare Information and Management System Society (HIMSS). The survey, conducted by WebMD, reflects the responses of 1,211 health care providers and 1,762 consumers and patients who had seen a provider in the previous 12 months.
