It was around 2008, about seven years into my career as a physical therapist. The first six years of my career had been spent mainly in hospital settings — neuro rehab, acute care, and some outpatient work — but recently I had made a change. I'd left the hospital for outpatient orthopedics, landing at a high-volume corporate physical therapy practice in New York City. It was a big adjustment.
