We're looking back at a year unlike any other.

The past year was a year of connection and isolation. We faced a pandemic together, but the effects of that pandemic could be intensely personal. We sought to address social justice issues as a country, yet our lived experiences with those issues varied widely. We advocated for our profession with a more unified voice than ever, but the results of those efforts were a mix of victories and disappointments.

Through the year, APTA channeled the profession's energy, commitment, and compassion, helping our members navigate uncharted territory while creating opportunities for growth. For us, 2020 wasn't about simply surviving—it was about continuing to pursue our transformative vision.

The articles below capture just a few of the accomplishments and challenges of a year unlike any other. We're proud of what we've achieved together, and grateful that, through it all, the resilience and dedication of our profession never wavered.

Together, we are better.

Our members were a source of strength, inspiration, and insight to each other through all the challenges we faced in 2020. Find out how you can be a part of the APTA community—and learn more about the rewards of membership.
