The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has asked all state Medicaid agencies to conduct a "swift revalidation" of certain Medicaid providers identified as high‑risk for fraud, waste, and abuse, while also directing states to develop a broader provider revalidation strategy within 30 days. Although the action has not been announced with a formal CMS press release, in an April 23 letter, CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz, MD, directed state governors to notify CMS within 10 days whether their state will proceed with an expedited revalidation process, and to propose a revalidation timeline.
