Cory Lee, PTA, and his wife, Kim Lee, PT, DPT, fulfilled a longtime dream in 2012 when they opened the doors of Pro Physical Therapy. As Cory Lee recounted 3 years ago in the pages of PT in Motion,1 the Lees' literal goal was to get Mississippi—1 of only 2 states with an adult obesity rate of more than 35%2—moving.

So far, so good. What began as a practice with about 1,500 square feet for provision of physical therapy in the town of Mantachie has morphed into a 6,800-square-foot multipurpose facility that houses a physical therapy clinic, 24-hour gym, and CrossFit gym.

"It has worked out really great," Cory Lee says. But it likely wouldn't have worked out at all, he adds, without an initial investment of $50,000—none of which was spent on purchasing equipment.
